UM Sports Hall of Fame & Museum to Host 32nd Annual Golf Tournament

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Members of Miami’s 1999 national championship baseball team will be on hand and honored at the 32nd Annual University of Miami Sports Hall of Fame & Museum Celebrity Golf Tournament, which will be held on Thursday, October 24 at the luxurious Biltmore Golf Course in Coral Gables. This year, a portion of the proceeds will benefit the Ari Arteaga Foundation, named to honor the late son of Hurricanes head baseball coach J.D. Arteaga.

The 1999 Canes baseball team won the school’s third national championship by defeating Florida State 6-5 in the title game of the College World Series in Omaha, Nebraska. Head coach Jim Morris’ squad won the first of his two championships by going undefeated in postseason play.

The golf tournament is scheduled for Thursday, October 24, two days before UM’s football team hosts Florida State at Hard Rock Stadium. The tournament kicks off with registration and lunch at 11 a.m. followed by a 1 p.m. shotgun start on the 18 holes at the Biltmore Golf Course. An awards reception featuring live and silent auctions will follow the golf tournament on the terrace of the Biltmore Hotel.

Teams of four golfers start at $1,750 with corporate sponsorships available. Tee signs can be purchased for $300 to support the event. Visit CanesGolf.com or call the UM Sports Hall of Fame & Museum at 305-284-2775 to inquire about your company becoming a sponsor.
