Campre and Teixeira Tabbed First Team All-Americans On Day Two In Eugene

EUGENE, Ore. – The University of Miami track and field team completed day two of the NCAA track and field national championships Thursday night at Hayward Field.

Multi-event athlete Edgar Campre closed out a grueling two-day competition to claim First Team All-American honors in the men’s decathlon.  Campre tallied a school record 8042 total points, earning personal bests in six of the ten events.

With Campre contributing six team points, the men’s team ranks fourth after two days of competition with twelve team points.

In the women’s javelin, Deisiane Teixeira also earned First Team All-American. Teixeira threw 54.54m (178 feet, 11 inches) to finish eighth. Like Campre, this is Teixeira’s first First Team All-American honors of her career.

Friday’s events are scheduled to commence at 8:30 p.m. eastern time with the men’s high jump, where Kennedy Sauder will represent the Hurricanes.

Milton Ingraham II will take part in the discus at 8:35 p.m., while indoor national champion Russell Robinson will seek back-to-back national titles at 9:20 p.m. in the men’s triple jump.
