Byrne Named WGCA All-American

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – University of Miami golfer Sara Byrne earned the final feather in her collegiate cap Friday when she was named a Women’s Golf Coaches Association Second Team All-American.

A first-time honoree, Byrne becomes the 25th Miami golfer to earn All-American plaudits and first since 2020, when Renate Grimstad was named to the WGCA Second Team. The senior is just the fourth Second Team honoree in program history dating back to 1984 when team distinctions began.

Byrne, who finished the 2023-24 season as the No. 21 golfer in the nation per Scoreboard Powered by Clippd, is one of four Atlantic Coast Conference golfers to receive First or Second Team status. She is joined by First Team honoree Lottie Woad (Florida State) and Second Team golfers Rachel Kuehn (Wake Forest) and Amanda Sambach (Virginia).

The Ireland native concluded the season with eight top-10 finishes, a pair of individual tournament titles and shot par-or-better in 24 of 35 rounds played.

For her accomplishments this season, Byrne was named ACC Golfer of the Month twice and earned a spot on the postseason All-ACC Team.

Byrne set new program records in single-season scoring average (70.34), individual 18-hole score (63; -9) and individual 54-hole score (197; -19).

In July, Byrne will compete for Team International at the Arnold Palmer Cup in Lahinch, Ireland.
