University of Miami Student-Athletes Set Cumulative Grade Point Average Record
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – University of Miami student-athletes set a department record by posting a 3.23 cumulative grade point average in the Spring 2024 semester.
This marked the 21st consecutive semester Miami student-athletes posted a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
“I want to congratulate our Hurricanes student-athletes for another strong semester in the classroom,” Vice President/Director of Athletics Dan Radakovich said. “We are proud of their dedication to their academic pursuits. I would like to thank our academic support staff for their efforts with our student-athletes and our head coaches for continuing to place an emphasis on academic achievement.”
The department’s overall GPA for the spring semester was 3.28 – which was the highest except for the COVID semester in Spring 2020 — and 16 of UM’s 18 sports posted semester GPAs of 3.0 or higher. Women’s tennis led all teams with a 3.75 GPA, while men’s cross country paced the Miami men’s teams with a 3.56 GPA.
Among Miami’s 392 student-athletes, 283 student-athletes (72.1 percent) posted a 3.0 GPA or higher; 172 student-athletes (43.8 percent) posted a 3.5 or higher; and 37 student-athletes recorded a perfect 4.0 GPA.
