Miami Places Ninth at Gators Invitational

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The University of Miami golf team recorded a ninth-place finish at the weather-filled Gators Invitational, Saturday afternoon at the Mark Bostick Golf Course in Gainesville, Fla.

The Hurricanes tallied a 54-hole score of 866 (+26) on the par-70, 6,002-yard course to finish ninth out of 14 teams.

For the eighth time this season, senior Sara Byrne led the way for the Hurricanes, recording an even-par score of 210 for an eighth-place showing. Byrne shot her 10th sub-70 round of the season with a first-round score of 66.

Sophomore Olivia Grønborg improved with each round of golf in Gainesville, finishing tied for 30th with a 54-hole score of 216 (+6), highlighted by a 68 in the final round.

Freshmen Rebekah Gardner and Sophie Bierstorfer placed tied for 45th (221; +11) and tied for 48th (223; +13), respectively, while fellow freshman Barbora Bujáková finished tied for 60th (230; +20) in the invitational.

The Hurricanes return to action on March 11-12 at the Battle at Briar’s Creek, hosted by the College of Charleston.
