Miami Volleyball Adds Taylor van der Biezen As Assistant Coach
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Taylor van der Biezen will join the Miami volleyball program as an assistant coach, Head Coach Jose Gandara announced Thursday afternoon.
Van der Biezen arrives in Coral Gables after serving a three-year stint at Navy, first as a volunteer assistant coach and then elevated to assistant coach and recruiting coordinator for the next two seasons.
“I am looking forward to heading south for my next adventure at the University of Miami,” said van der Biezen. “I am beyond grateful for this amazing opportunity and to be able to work with and learn from Keno and his staff. I am thankful for the experiences I have had at Navy but am excited to be a part of the University of Miami family.”
From Ashburn, Va., van der Biezen guided the Mids to a 47-35 record during her time, including a 28-20 conference record. She also helped Navy to the Patriot League Tournament final in 2022 and garnered nine All-Patriot League honorees.
Prior to Navy, she served as a graduate assistant coach with the Bryant women’s team for the 2019 fall and 2021 spring seasons, while also being the head coach of the school’s men’s club team in the spring of 2020. While coaching, she earned a Master of Business Administration at Bryant.
Van der Biezen attended Marist College where she totaled 2,758 career assists (fifth at Marist) and 111 aces (eighth at Marist), was a two-time team MVP and served as a captain of the Red Foxes as a senior. A three-time academic all-conference honoree and a four-year member of the Dean’s List, she graduated with honors in 2019 after she earned a degree in finance.
