CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Freshman Grace Lopez was recognized as an AVCA All-America Honorable Mention, the American Volleyball Coaches Association announced.

She also led in points (454.0) and ranks second in total aces (27). She was named ACC freshman of the Week on Oct. 16 and Nov. 13, as well as earning ACC Offensive Player of the Week on Nov. 6.

She made her Hurricane debut by starting in 24 out of 28 matches she played in. Lopez registered 27 service aces, good for second most on the team and averaged a .923 reception percentage. She tallied 178 digs and averaged 1.80 digs per set, while claiming 38.0 blocks (two solo blocks and 36 block assists). Again leading the team, she logged 454.0 points and ranked 10th for most points per set (4.59) in a season all-time. In Miami’s record book, Lopez has the third most kills in a match (30).

Overall, she had eight 20+ kill matches and five double-doubles in kills and digs. She was also named to the All-Freshman, All-ACC First Team and AVCA All-Region team, while being tabbed a NCAA Big Time Performer twice.

Lopez joins Lane Carico (2008) as only the second freshman to make the AVCA All-America list for Miami.
