Lopez, Vach Earns AVCA All-Region Honors

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Two Miami Hurricanes were among those recognized with East Coast All-Region honors, the American Volleyball Coaches Association announced.

Opposite hitter Grace Lopez earned her first career recognition and setter Savannah Vach picked up their fourth straight all-region accolade.

The duo adds to its postseason awards list with the designation, having each been selected with All-ACC honors in late November; both were selected as a first-team all-conference honoree with Lopez also inking her name to the all-freshman team.

Lopez made the all-region list after leading the Hurricanes in kills (407), points (454.0), kills per set (4.11) and ranks second in total aces (27). She was named ACC freshman of the Week on Oct. 16 and Nov. 13, as well as earning ACC Offensive Player of the Week on Nov. 6.

Vach broke the program record in career assists with 5,241. She led the Hurricanes and conference with 1,203 assists and averaged 10.65 assists per set. Vach was named ACC Setter of the Week four times this season (Sept. 4, Sept. 18, Sept. 25 and Oct. 2).
