Miami Wraps Up Play At Gator Fall Invite

The University of Miami men's tennis team concluded its time at the Gator Fall Invite, walking away with 11 wins on the weekend.

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The University of Miami men’s tennis team concluded its time at the Gator Fall Invite, walking away with 11 wins on the weekend.

Day one started with a matchup against Florida, where the Canes claimed both doubles wins. Vladislav Melnic and Adrien Burdet defeated Nate Bonetto and Aidan Kim, 6-1, while Antonio Prat and Nacho Serra Sanchez took down JanMagnus Johnson and Olek Orlikowski, 6-2.

Heading into singles with the Gators, Prat claimed the 6-1, 6-4 win over Bonetto and Burdet grabbed the win against Orlikowski, 7-6 (3), 7-6 (3). Florida backed it up with two singles wins from Johnson over Melnic, 6-1, 6-2, and Tanapatt Nirundorn over Serra Sanchez, 6-4, 3-6, 6-4.

The Canes then took to the court on day two to face UCF. Once again, Melnic and Burdet teamed up in doubles to defeat Lleyton Cronje and Santiago Giamichelle, 6-4. The Knights answered with a win from Francisco Llanes and Liam Branger against Prat and Serra, 7-6 (9).

Serra Sanchez claimed the Canes’ only singles win with a 3-6, 6-3, 6-2 victory over Branger.

On the final day, Miami grabbed five wins against Clemson. In doubles, Serra Sanchez and Prat took the 6-4 win over Marko Mesarovic and Matt Pitts, while Noa Vukadin and Maxwell Smith defeated Melnic and Burdet, 6-1.

Miami found major success in singles, with all four matchups resulting in victories. Prat took down Vukadin, 6-3, 4-6, 6-2, and Burdet delivered a 1-6, 6-4, 7-6 (3) win against Mesarovic. Then, Melnic grabbed the 7-6 (4), 4-6, 6-2 win over Pitts and Serra Sanchez claimed the win over Trey Stinchcomb, 3-6, 6-4, 7-5.

The Canes are back in action for the Wake Forest Invitational, running from Nov. 3-5 in Winston-Salem, N.C.
