Miami Takes Home Team Title, Sets Program Record

LAKEWOOD RANCH, Fla. – The University of Miami golf team secured its first team title since 2018 on Monday, finishing first out of 12 teams at the 46th Annual Pat Bradley Invitational in Lakewood Ranch, Fla.

Miami’s first-place finish comes after the team posted a program-best 54-hole score of 830 (-34) on the par-72, 6,234-yard course at Lakewood Ranch Golf and Country Club. The Hurricanes’ previous program record for a 54-hole team score was 833, set at the Schooner Fall Classic in 2018.

The Hurricanes’ last team title came in March 2018 when they bested 12 other teams to win the Hurricane Invitational.

Fourth-year junior Sara Byrne and sophomore Olivia Grønborg each took home a share of the individual title, posting a three-round score of 203 (-13). Both golfers shot a 65 in the final round en route to their best Division I collegiate performances.

Byrne and Grønborg’s 54-hole scores of 203 ranks tied for third in program history for top 54-hole performances, behind only Dewi Weber (201) and Renate Grimstad (202).

This marks the first time since Feb. 4-6, 2018, that Miami not only took home the team trophy, but also had a golfer win the individual title. In 2018, Miami won the UCF Challenge and Dewi Weber was the individual title victor, shooting seven-under-par.

Freshman Barbora Bujáková rounded out the podium for the Hurricanes, posting a career best 54-hole score of 206 (-10) to finish in third. The Uherské Hradiště, Czechia, native carded a 64 in the first round, tying the Miami program record for an 18-hole performance.

Bujáková, Byrne and Grønborg combined for nine rounds of par or better and 49 of Miami’s 65 birdies.

Freshman Aada Rissanen finished tied for 15th after posting a 291 (+3), while fellow freshman Rebekah Gardner recorded a 222 (+6), which placed her tied for 25th among all individuals.

Competing as an individual, sophomore Katie Carman carded a 227 (+11) to finish tied for 40th.

The Hurricanes return to action on their home course on Oct. 30-31, hosting the Hurricane Invitational at the Biltmore Golf Course.
