Miami Athletics Announces Restructuring of Department Leadership

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Miami Athletics announced today that the department has restructured its leadership team to create greater efficiencies, collaboration, and strategic insight across all units.

“College athletics is evolving at a rapid pace and these organizational changes will help our department capitalize on its strengths, meet challenges more effectively, and seize opportunities that can move us forward,” Vice President/Director of Athletics Dan Radakovich said.

Jennifer Strawley, Jason Layton and Brian Baptiste will now serve as the department’s three Senior Deputy Athletic Directors.

Strawley, entering her 12th year at Miami, has oversight of human resources, academics, student-athlete development, sports medicine, and performance, health and wellness. She will continue to serve as the sport administrator for football and women’s basketball as well as UM’s ACC liaison.

Layton, who has been at Miami since 2014, has oversight of ticketing, sales, branding, digital strategy, marketing, equipment, broadcasting, and the Hurricane Club. He will also oversee the revenue and organizational components of Miami’s Name, Image & Likeness program.

Baptiste, who was hired this past April after four years as Vice President of Athletics and Recreation at La Salle, has oversight of facilities, game operations, compliance, and the business office, and will manage the department’s policies and procedures. He will also oversee the legal and compliance components of UM’s NIL program.

Miami has hired Brian Campbell as its new Assistant Vice President, Athletics Development. Campbell most recently served as Executive Director of Development for Strategic Programs and Athletic Giving at the United States Air Force Academy. He will lead the department’s development and fundraising efforts.

In addition, Executive Associate Athletic Director for Business Operations Matt Smale will continue in his role as the department’s chief financial officer and serve as men’s basketball sport administrator. Carter Toole continues in his Chief of Staff role but will now assume oversight of the traditional media relations and content components of UM’s communications department.
