Sliper Registers Top-30 Finish at The Bruzzy
ARDMORE, Okla. – The University of Miami women’s golf team competed in its final tournament of the regular season at The Bruzzy Challenge, hosted by the University of North Texas.
The 54-hole tournament was played at the par-70 Dornick Hills Golf and Country Club, that spans 5,976 yards.
Senior Franziska Sliper led the Hurricanes, posting an even-par round on Saturday. In the final round, Sliper climbed the individual leaderboard 14 spots to earn a top-30 spot. Sliper shot a three-round total of 221 (+11), finishing the tournament tying for 28th place. This marks Sliper’s top performance of the year.
In addition, Sara Byrne tied for 46th place, with a final score of 225 (+15).
As a team, Miami finished 15th overall, shooting 919 (+79), in a competitive field with six top-50 teams that included No. 17 UCF, No. 32 Texas Tech, No. 35 TCU, No. 36 Houston, No. 39 Tulsa, and No. 42 North Texas.
The tournament host, No. 42 North Texas, claimed the team title with a score of 856 (+16). No. 39 Tulsa shot a team score of 858 (+18), placing second.
Miami will head to the 2023 ACC Women’s Golf Championship on Apr. 13th in Greensboro, N.C.
