Fan Fest and Alumni Game Set for Feb. 11
CORAL GABLES, Fla. — The University of Miami baseball program will host its annual Alumni Game on Sat., Feb. 11 at Alex Rodriguez Park at Mark Light Field.
“Fan Fest and the Alumni Game is always a fun, fun event,” Miami head coach Gino DiMare said. “It’s a great treat to have some great players from all different eras get introduced. We might have 70 or so alumni here, which is exciting.”
“For us, we’re used to scrimmaging ourselves and it’s an opportunity to play outside competition. We’re putting one lineup out there for the first time, so it serves as a tune-up to get ready to play Penn State.”
Prior to the exhibition contest at 6 p.m., the Hurricanes will ring in the new baseball season with their first Fan Fest in three years. Gates open to the public at 4 p.m. and the event is free.
In addition to the first opportunity to grab a Mark Light Milkshake and see the 2023 Hurricanes in action, alumni scheduled to participate in the game include pitchers Frankie Bartow, Danny Garcia, Cooper Hammond, Greg Veliz and Thomas Woodrey, catchers Adrian Del Castillo and Anthony Vilar, infielders Edgar Michelangeli, Johnny Ruiz, David Thompson and Freddy Zamora, and outfielders Willie Abreu, Jon Jay and Chantz Mack.
