Miami Golf Set to Start the Spring Slate

CORAL GABLES, Fla. –The University of Miami golf team is set to start its spring season in the coming weeks, returning to action in Orlando, Fla., for the UCF Challenge beginning on February 5. This is the first tournament for the Canes since hosting the Hurricane Invitational at the Biltmore Golf Course in November.

The Hurricanes will be competing across the country throughout the spring, with tournaments taking place in Florida, South Carolina, Oklahoma, North Carolina, and Arizona.

In addition to competing in their home state at the UCF Challenge, the team will also take part in the Moon Golf Invitational (Feb. 19-21) in Melbourne, Fla., and the Gator Invitational (March 4-5) in Gainesville, Fla.

Miami will head to Charleston, S.C., to compete in the Briar’s Creek tournament (March 13-14). The last tournament of the regular season for the Hurricanes will take place in Ardmore, Okla., at The Bruzzy (April 1-2).

The Hurricanes will compete at the ACC Championship (April 13-16), hosted at the Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro, N.C. The NCAA Regionals will begin in May and will take place at host sites across the country. The Hurricanes will conclude play in May at the NCAA Championship in Scottsdale, Ariz.

Miami returns three starters, including Daniella Barrett, Sara Byrne, and Franziska Sliper. Over the break, the Hurricanes added two golfers to the squad, Katie Carman and Elisa Villamizar. Carman hails from Lexington, Ky., and competed on the Florida Junior Tour. Prior to Miami, Villamizar competed for her home country of Colombia on Colombia’s National Team.
