Dear Canes Community,
I hope all of you are healthy and safe in the aftermath of Hurricane Ian. While South Florida was spared the worst of the storm, Ian made landfall on Florida’s west coast with devastating impact. Our thoughts are with all our friends and family who were affected by the storm and face a long road to recovery. We can assist by contributing to the Florida Disaster Fund, which is the state’s official private fund to provide financial assistance to our communities as they respond to and recover from emergencies or disasters. Please click here for more information.
Our football team, which is 2-2 and coming off a bye week, hosts North Carolina at Hard Rock Stadium Saturday. Kickoff is 4 p.m. on ESPN2. It’s our first ACC game of the year and we have a great opportunity to start conference play on a positive note and build momentum for the rest of the season.
Our fan support through the first four games of the season has been tremendous – both at Hard Rock and on our first road trip to College Station, Texas. Thank you to everyone for their dedication to the football program. This Saturday’s game against the Tar Heels is our Breast Cancer Awareness Game Presented by the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center, and we are also honoring our 1987 team on the 35th anniversary of their undefeated national championship season. Click here if you have not yet purchased tickets to – there are a limited number of single-game tickets available, starting at just $35. We will see you at Hard Rock on Saturday!
Our volleyball, soccer and swimming and diving teams were in action this past weekend. You can sign up to receive our weekly Miami Athletics Report to catch up on all the action. Click here to sign up!
Our men’s and women’s basketball teams have started practice and are both looking to build on terrific seasons. Our men’s home slate includes games against Virginia, Syracuse, Duke and Louisville, while our women’s home matchups include Michigan, Florida, Notre Dame and North Carolina. Click here for season ticket information. We hope to see you at Watsco Center cheering on the Canes all season long!
The 30th annual University of Miami Sports Hall of Fame Celebrity Golf Tournament will be held on Thursday, October 20 at the Biltmore Golf Course in Coral Gables. Former Canes All-America pitcher Alex Santos is this year’s celebrity host. If you are interested in securing a foursome for the tournament, please call 305-284-2775 or visit canesgolf.com.
