CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Miami Athletics announced Monday that ESPN anchor and former Hurricanes volleyball student-athlete Christine Williamson will serve as emcee for the eighth annual Celebration of Women’s Athletics presented by adidas on Sunday, April 10 at 5 p.m. at the Carol Soffer Indoor Practice Facility.

The Celebration of Women’s Athletics honors current Miami female student-athletes from each of UM’s nine women’s programs for excellence on the playing field, as well as in the classroom and community.

“We are excited to welcome Christine home to serve as our emcee for the eighth annual Celebration of Women’s Athletics,” Deputy Director of Athletics/Chief Operating Officer Jennifer Strawley said. “Christine represents the true essence of our Celebration of Women’s Athletics. As one of our own, who knows what it means to be a student-athlete at Miami, it is a special opportunity to bring Christine back to Miami to celebrate with us.”

Williamson played at Miami from 2007-11, registering 929 career kills and helping the Hurricanes earn three NCAA Tournament bids. After earning her bachelor’s degree from UM in broadcast journalism she obtained a master’s degree from Clemson.

“I am thrilled to be coming back to Miami to host the Celebration of Women’s Athletics,” Williamson said. “The years I spent at UM competing as a student-athlete were some of the best years oy my life and I welcome the opportunity to return and share those experiences with these remarkable young women.”

Williamson joined ESPN in October 2019. She often hosts ESPN programs on ESPN digital platforms including SC on Snap, Countdown to GameDay, Hoop Streams, Rankings Reaction, The Wrap-Up, The Heisman Show and more, in addition, she has anchored television editions of SportsCenter. Before joining ESPN, Williamson worked with Fox Sports and Big 12 Network as a digital contributor and on-camera host. She was also a host and reporter for the Denver Broncos.
