Flory Opens Run at NCAA Diving Championships

ATLANTA – University of Miami diver Max Flory opened his run at the 2022 NCAA Swimming & Diving Championships Thursday afternoon at the McAuley Aquatic Center.

Flory, who will compete on all three boards in his second trip to the NCAA Championships, placed 26th in the morning’s preliminary round in the 1-meter springboard on the Georgia Tech campus.

The Fairfax, Va., native, who won a gold medal in February at the ACC Swimming & Diving Championships, started the round strong on a reverse 1 ½ somersault with 2 ½ twist that scored him 61.50 points.

He also closed the round strong on a back 1 ½ somersault with 2 ½ twists, scoring a high of 65.25 on his sixth and final dive.

Flory will compete in the 3-meter springboard on Friday, and will also compete in the platform event – alongside teammate Zach Cooper – on Saturday from Atlanta.
