Miami Athletics Announces Educational Benefit Plan

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Miami Athletics announced Monday its Education Benefit Plan to recognize and reward the academic achievement of all Hurricanes student-athletes.

The Educational Benefit Plan, which will be initiated during the current Spring 2022 semester, was created as a result of the Supreme Court’s decision in NCAA v. Alston.

“Miami Athletics has always supported the academic pursuit and achievement of our student-athletes,” Vice President/Director of Athletics Dan Radakovich said. “We now have the opportunity to reward their efforts and enhance their student-athlete experience by offering additional financial support.”

The educational benefit will be distributed annually prior to the first day of class of the fall semester and will be based on the successful completion of the NCAA’s Academic Progress Rate (APR) calculation each term. Eligible student-athletes will receive the educational benefit for $2,990 each fall and spring semester for a total of $5,980 annually.

Miami student-athletes continue to excel in the classroom as the department’s most recent NCAA Graduation Success Rate (GSR) of 91 percent marked the sixth consecutive year and ninth year in the past 10 that UM has earned a four-year average rate of 90 percent or higher.
