Frydlova Cards Top-20 Finish in Tallahassee
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Kristyna Frydlova shined on the final day of the FSU Match Up to pace the University of Miami golf team on Sunday.
Frydlova catapulted 25 spots on the individual leaderboard after she shot a third-round total of 69 (-3). She finished with a 54-hole total of 222 (+6) and tied 12th for her second top-20 finish of the season.
“This week was a little bit better but we are still a bit frustrated we are not in our groove yet,” head coach Patti Rizzo said. “We are hopeful everything will click at the right time when we get to conference. The course was very difficult as you could tell by all the scores. We will keep working hard to figure it out.”
A pair of Canes – Anna Backman and Franziska Sliper – finished tied for 26th with a three-round score of 226 (+10). Sara Byrne shot 12-over (228) to tie 34th, while Daniella Barrett finished just four spots back of Byrne with a three-stroke difference.
Nataliya Guseva rounded out Miami’s players as she tied for 48th after carding a score of 233 (+17).
The Hurricanes led the field with three eagles and finished second with 164 pars.
As a team, Miami finished seventh with a score of 899 (+35).
After two tournaments in eight days, UM will take a week off before returning to the links at the Valspar Collegiate Invitational, Mar. 12-13, in Augusta, Ga.
