Vach, Leao Invited to USA Volleyball Women’s National Team Open Program

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – University of Miami student-athletes Savannah Vach and Janice Leao have been selected to the USA Volleyball 2022 Women’s National Team Open Program.

This will be Vach’s second appearance after participating in 2020, while it will be Leao’s first time.

“It is a super cool experience to be invited to have the possibility to represent your country on any team,” Vach said. “The last time I went, it was a cool opportunity to play with such high caliber players and bring some of that experience back to Miami with me. I am looking forward to playing high level volleyball.”

“I wasn’t expecting the invite, but I am super excited to have this opportunity to play with highly talented athletes,” Leao added. “I am looking forward to meeting the other girls, the coaches and being able to play in this environment. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity and I can learn a lot on how I can be a better player and person.”

Throughout the weekend, they will participate in skill-specific activities and match play.

Vach will open the weekend in Friday’s PM Red Wave from 4-5:40 p.m. (ET). Leao will be in the Friday PM White Wave which takes place from 5:50-7:30 p.m. to begin her weekend.

The event, which features more than 200 collegiate athletes, will be held at the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo., Feb. 25-27. USA Volleyball uses this program as part of the selection process for the U.S. Women’s National Team, NCAA Elite Athlete List and 2022 Collegiate National Team.
