Leao Garners AVCA All-American Honorable Mention

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Middle blocker Janice Leao was named an American Volleyball Coaches Association All-American Honorable Mention, as announced by the organization Wednesday morning.

Leao is the first Cane to earn All-America honors since 2017 when Olga Strantzali and Haley Templeton were tabbed Honorable Mentions.

The New Bedford, Mass., native was instrumental in leading the Hurricanes to their first 25-win season in nine years and a postseason berth.

The junior played in all 107 sets on her way to being ranked top-15 in Division I in blocks per set (1.36) and total blocks (146). Her total blocks are fifth-most in a single season by a Hurricane, while her blocks per set are the fourth best in a campaign at Miami.

She posted a .330 hitting percentage, the ninth highest for a single season in program history.
