Yardimci Named ACC Freshman of the Week

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Peyman Yardimci was named ACC Freshman of the Week, the Atlantic Coast Conference announced Tuesday afternoon. This is the first weekly conference honor of her career.

Yardimci is the first Hurricane to earn the accolade since teammate Savannah Vach on Sept. 30, 2019.

The freshman helped lead Miami to a 2-0 weekend with a four-set win over Syracuse and sweep over Boston College. Miami’s 3-0 victory over BC marked its 14th sweep of the season, which tied the most in a campaign since 2014.

The Istanbul, Turkey native, posted a career- and match-high seven blocks against the Eagles. She tallied 11 combined blocks over the two contests.

In the two matches, Yardimci recorded 22 kills with a .391 attacking percentage.

She assisted Miami’s season-high 69 kills and 63 assists against the Orange, the second time this year the Canes have finished a match with more than 60 kills and 60 assists.

The Hurricanes return to action on at 7 p.m., Friday, in Atlanta, Ga., against No. 14 Georgia Tech.
