UMSHoF Reschedules November 16 Induction Banquet

The University of Miami Sports Hall of Fame has announced that, due to a combination of Covid-related and technical issues, its 52nd Induction Banquet for the Class of 2020, presently scheduled for Tuesday, November 16th, will be rescheduled to the Spring of 2022, and will coincide with the Class of 2022’s Induction Banquet.  A date for the combined banquet will be announced in the very near future.

The Class of 2020 includes Jay Brophy, Phillip Buchanon and Kevin Williams from football, Yasmani Grandal from baseball, basketball’s Johnny Hemsley, soccer’s Brittany Steinbruch, Laura Vallverdu from tennis, and former track & field coach Mike Ward, while the recently announced Class of 2022 includes Cleveland Gary and D.J. Williams from football, Jeff Alkire from baseball, Shenise Johnson and Jack McClinton from basketball, diver Brittney Viola, Conny Falk from tennis, volleyballer Lane Carico, and T’erea Brown and Tim Harris from track and field. Additionally, Scott Nicolas of football, a 2019 inductee, who was unable to attend that year’s banquet, will be recognized.

The event was scheduled to be held at the DoubleTree by Hilton Miami Airport Convention Center, making this the second postponement attributable to the Covid-19 pandemic.
