UMSHoF to Hold 52nd Induction Banquet on Nov. 16

CORAL GABLES, Fla. — The University of Miami Sports Hall of Fame (“UMSHoF”) will hold its 52nd Induction Banquet on Tuesday, November 16, 2021 at the Doubletree by Hilton Miami Airport Convention Center.

The eight-member Class of 2020 is comprised of Jay Brophy, Phillip Buchanon and Kevin Williams (football), Yasmani Grandal (baseball), Johnny Hemsley (basketball), Brittney Steinbruch (soccer), Laura Vallverdu (tennis) and Coach Mike Ward (track & field).  The Class of 2020 was originally scheduled to be inducted in April, 2020, but their banquet was postponed by the pandemic.

“The Class of 2020 is another exceptional class that represents the best of UM Athletics,” said UMSHoF President Mead McCabe. “We invite you to join us on November 16th as we celebrate the amazing accomplishments of these fine athletes and coach.”

Tickets for the 52nd UMSHoF Induction Banquet are:

  • $200 each ($1,600 for a table of eight)
  • a SUPER TABLE of eight tickets for $2,000, which includes preferred seating and a 1/2-page ad in the banquet program.

Businesses and Canes Fans may place an ad in the banquet program to congratulate the inductee.

The University of Miami Sports Hall of Fame is a non-profit organization founded in 1966 by eight Miami-Dade County Circuit Court judges, all Miami alumni, who wanted to establish an organization that would recognize those student-athletes, coaches and administrators who excelled at their sport and brought acclaim to the University through their achievements and championships. With the addition of the Class of 2020, only 334 honorees have been inducted into the UM Sports Hall of Fame.
