CORAL GABLES, Fla. – In the season opening tournament last weekend, it was a trio of top-30 finishes that paced the University of Miami who heads into week two with just six days between tournaments.
The Hurricanes, who finished ninth (872; +8) as a team in the Cougar Classic, will be back on the course Monday and Tuesday for the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championship that is in its 24th year.
It has been nine years since the ‘Canes stepped on the Donald Ross designed golf course set along the Tennessee River. They finished 12th with a team score of 918 (54-over).
Action for the two-day tournament will begin on Monday with a shotgun start at 8:30 am (ET) with 36 holes, followed by a Tuesday shotgun start at 9 am for the final 18 holes. The course will play as a par-71 at either 5,844 or 5,930 yards.
Sara Byrne, Anna Backman, and Franziska Sliper will all be in the UM lineup this week after the trio posted top-30 finishes across the board. Byrne tallied an even-par of 216 last week to finish tied 24th, while Backman and Sliper each shot a 54-hole score of 217 (1-over) to tie for 29th.
