Meier to Host UMSHoF/Hurricane Club Golf Tournament
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – University of Miami Women’s Basketball Coach and UM Sports Hall of Fame member Katie Meier has been tapped to serve as the celebrity host for the 29th Annual UM Sports Hall of Fame Celebrity Golf Tournament to benefit the Hurricane Club, to be held on Thursday, October 21 at the luxurious Biltmore Golf Course in Coral Gables.
“I am thrilled to serve as host for this year’s Hall of Fame golf tournament,” said Meier. “Being inducted into this prestigious group is the highest honor I’ve received, mainly because of the incredibly ELITE members. This tournament allows all of us to show the love and gratitude we have for THE U, and to also share those memories with our amazing fans.”
“After a limited field last year due to Covid-19, we are thrilled to be back to a full field and lots of fun,” said UMSHoF Past President and Golf Chairperson, Tracy Kerdyk. “Our host, Coach Katie Meier, along with other Hall of Fame athletes, will join our players for a day filled with great golf, lots of laughs and memorable times. Meier, the winningest Coach in Miami’s program history, is starting her 17th season at the helm of the Canes and has them poised to make a run at the ACC title. The 2011 AP Coach of the Year, Katie has led Miami to 11 postseason berths and 9 20-win campaigns.
The golf tournament is scheduled for Thursday, October 21st, and kicks off with registration and lunch, along with a silent auction, at 11:00 am followed by a 1:00 pm shotgun start on the 18 holes at the Biltmore Golf Course. An awards reception will follow the golf.
