Miami Falls to No. 14 Notre Dame
SOUTH BEND, Ind. – Miami volleyball dropped its first match of the second half of the season to No. 14 Notre Dame, 3-0.
For the second straight match, Angela Grieve led the Canes with 12 kills, while Savannah Vach recorded her eighth double-double of the season with 25 assists and 11 digs.
Miami dropped its first, first set of the season 25-18 despite holding the Fighting Irish to its lowest hitting percentage (.176) set of the match. Elizaveta Lukianova led Miami with four kills and one block, while Priscilla Hernandez registered five of her 16 total digs.
With 13 kills in the second set, Miami’s offense continued to struggle hitting a match-low .021. Notre Dame finished with eight team blocks even though Grieve and Janet Kalaniuvalu picked up steam finishing with seven kills in the set. Notre Dame took the 2-0 lead with a 25-19 set win.
The Fighting Irish’s offense converted 13 kills off 27 attacks and just one error to take the final set, 25-15. Freshman Michalina Rola finished with a career-high two kills and one dig in the match.
Miami returns home to host Syracuse on March 12 and Virginia on March 14.
