Morris to Host UMSHoF Golf Tournament

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Two-time national champion baseball coach Jim Morris has been tapped to serve as the celebrity host for the 28th Annual UM Sports Hall of Fame Golf Tournament, to be held on Friday, October 23rd at the luxurious Biltmore Golf Course in Coral Gables.

“I’m delighted to serve as the host of this year’s Hall of Fame golf tournament,” said Coach Morris.  “My years at Miami were some of the greatest times in my life…not just the games and the championships…but the outstanding young men I coached, those I coached with and our support staff I worked with, and being around the Canes fans.  I look forward to coming back to see everyone at the tournament.”

“We are excited to announce we will be hosting our 2020 golf event,” said UMSHoF Immediate Past President and Golf Chairperson, Tracy Kerdyk.  “This has been a difficult year for everyone so being able to play golf, have some fun and at the same time raise much-needed funds for the UMSHoF is very special. Our host Coach Jim Morris, along with other athletes, invite you to come play golf, laugh and help the Hall.”

This year because of the social distancing and golf tournament restrictions enforced by local officials, we will only be able to accommodate 18 teams.  The golf tournament is scheduled for Friday, October 23rd, the day before the Miami-Virginia football game, kicks off with registration and a lunch at 11:00 am followed by a 1:00 shotgun start on the 18 holes at the Biltmore Golf Course.

Corporate teams of four golfers are available for $1500.  Sponsorships are available.  Go to CanesGolf.com or call the UM Sports Hall of Fame at 305-284-2775 to inquire about your company becoming a sponsor.
