Miami Volleyball Announces 2020 Schedule
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami volleyball team has officially slated its 2020 season with an opening home match against Georgia Tech on Sept. 24 at the Knight Sports Complex.
After COVID-19 changed the usual NCAA Division I volleyball season, Miami has now scheduled eight matches as announced by the Atlantic Coast Conference early Friday morning.
Miami is scheduled for an eight-match season, hosting four while hitting the road for the other half.
Jose “Keno” Gandara enters his eighth season in charge of the Canes and is eager to see his squad perform given the circumstances.
“With so much uncertainty in recent months, having something concrete on the calendar to look forward to is refreshing,” Gandara said. “We understand what a blessing it is to be competing this fall and we’re thankful for the trust the conference and administrations have placed in us to do this as safely as possible.”
The Hurricanes will host the Yellow Jackets on back-to-back dates on Sept. 24 and the Sept. 25 at the Knight.
“Georgia Tech is on the schedule but every moment before this match, during and after we know that the real opponent is the pandemic,” Gandara said. “We’re confident in our program’s ability to keep winning all those battles.”
After the opening weekend, Miami will play four matches in a span of eight days on the road. The first stop will be at Wake Forest on Oct. 2 and Oct. 3.
Miami will then travel to Clemson, S.C., on Oct. 8 and Oct. 9 for its final road matches of the season.
Florida State will come to town on Oct. 15 and Oct. 16 to close out the regular season on Miami’s home court.
All matches at Knight Sports Complex will be held without fans in attendance.
