allCanes Hosts Annual Holiday Shopping Spree for Kids

allCanes and the Bryan Pata Memorial Fund will again team up for the 19th  Annual Holiday Shopping Spree for Kids presented by Milam’s Markets/Akron Auto Auction/Pat Covelli Foundation on Wednesday, December 18 starting at 4:30 p.m. at the Coral Gables store.  More than 35 at-risk local kids will each receive a $95 shopping spree to honor the legacy of Pata, a former University of Miami football player.

The annual event is hosted by Director of Athletics Blake James and and his wife, Kelly. UM coaches scheduled to appear as host shoppers include Gino DiMare (Baseball),  Katie Meier (Women’s Basketball), Jose Gandara (Volleyball) and Patti Rizzo (Golf), along with UM Cheerleaders and Sebastian the Ibis.  In addition, former Canes scheduled to join the festivities include Joaquin Gonzalez and Jermaine Chambers (Football); Stevie Edwards and Alex Fraser (Basketball); and lineman Alex Pou who also coordinates The Home Team kids program along with members of the Pata family. This year the event is again presented by Milam’s Market along with returning major sponsors Akron Auto Auction and the Pat Covelli Foundation.

4:30-5:05 PM    Catered meal from Big Cheese, Milam’s, Crepemaker and Flanigan’s served in outside area in the back of the store
5:00-5:10 PM    Group photo with coaches, celebrities, UM spirit members and sponsors
5:10-6:15 PM    Kids are escorted in small groups by UM coaches and celebrities for shopping spree
