Prince Boasts Double-Double in Loss to Auburn

FORT WORTH, Texas –Texas native, Kennedy Prince, boasted another strong outing in Fort Worth, registering her first career double-double in the University of Miami volleyball team’s 3-1 loss to Auburn. 
 
Prince, who registered a career-high in kills last night against TCU, did one better today against the Tigers, finishing with a match-high 18 kills and 12 digs. The freshman has now led the Canes (2-3) in kills in three of its five matches of the 2019 season. 
 
The Tigers broke out to an early 1-0 lead after a 25-22 set win. Prince led both teams in kills after one, including her fourth which tied the set at 17. The Tigers took the final three points of the set off two kills and an ace to take the early lead.
 
The second set saw 11 different tied scores, including a tied match at 13 but the Canes would never take the lead after that. Miami was able to stave off two set points, but Marissa Hines  of Auburn registered the final blow to take the set, 25-23. 
 
Elizaveta Lukianova had an offensive outing in the third, with a set-leading six kills. Lukianova ended the match with 14 kills and five blocks. Freshman Savannah Vach tallied 15 of her 41 assists in third, distributing the Canes’ offense to record 17 kills to Auburn’s nine. On top of the 41 kills, Vach tallied a career-high 13 digs. Miami’s offense was too much for the Tigers in the third as the Canes pulled within one, taking the set, 26-24. 
 
Auburn’s .394 attack percentage outdid the Canes, tallying 16 kills to Miami’s 10. Auburn took the match with a 25-18 set win. 
 
Madison Dill recorded a career-high night in kills with six, while freshman Janice Leao, who started in her second match of the season, finished with four kills and three blocks. 
 
Miami travels to Orlando on Sept. 20 – 21 for the Sunshine State Challenge and will face FGCU, UCF and FAU.
