Two Canes Wrap Up European Championships
BERLIN, Germany – Two University of Miami Track and Field athletes represented their respective countries at the European Athletics Championships this week.
The Netherlands native Anna Runia competed in the qualifying round of the women’s 400m hurdles and finished with a time of 57.76 seconds. The Dutch national champion recently won gold in the 400m hurdles at the Netherlands Track and Field Championships in late June with a time of 58.35 seconds.
The rising senior earned Second Team All-America honors in the 400m hurdles and the 4x400m relay at the 2018 NCAA Outdoor Championships. The 2017 ACC champion in the women’s 400m hurdles notched Second Team All-ACC honors in the 400m hurdles after the 2018 ACC Outdoor Championships. Runia was also a member of Miami’s ACC champion 4x400m relay team, earning First Team All-ACC honors in that event.
Incoming freshman Molly Caudery represented Great Britain in the women’s pole vault and finished with a mark of 4.20m in the qualifying round. Caudery finished ninth overall in last month’s 2018 IAAF World U20 Championships in the pole vault finals with a mark of 4.10m. The future Cane cleared a personal-best mark in June with a mark of 4.53m in Mannheim, Germany.
