The No. 15-ranked Miami’s women’s team has several standouts set to compete this weekend at Arkansas. The Hurricanes enter the meet with the eight-ranked 4x100m relay and ninth-ranked 4x400m relay in the country this year.
Miami has several individuals to watch this weekend, including three-time ACC Performer of the Week Kayla Johnson, sprinters Alfreda Steele and Symone Mason, hurdlers Tiara McMinn, Anna Runia and Samantha Gonzalez and throwers Debbie Ajagbe and Zakiy Rashid.
On the men’s side, the Canes will look to build off their season-best time of 3:10.16 in the 4x400m relay from the Hurricane Collegiate Invitational. Miami’s men also have several competitors to keep an eye on, including Myles Valentine and Isaiah Taylor in the sprints, jumpers Tristan Schultheis and Hasani Knight and throwers Gian Piero Ragonesi and Kevin Arreaga.
Freshman Lorenzo Lingard will make his track debut in the 110m hurdles and on Miami’s 4x100m relay. Lingard, who was a five-star recruit at running back that enrolled at Miami in January, was the 2017 Florida Class 4A state champion in the 110m hurdles.
Following this weekend’s action, the Hurricanes will prepare to host the ACC Outdoor Track & Field Championships on May 10-12. The conference meet returns to Cobb Stadium on the University of Miami campus for the first time since 2009. To view the complete Miami Track and Field schedule for the 2018 season, click here.
