Canes Track Heads to Virginia Challenge
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Nine members of the University of Miami track and field team will represent the Hurricanes at the Virginia Challenge this weekend.
The Canes have entries in both the men’s and women’s throws, the men’s 10,000m and the women’s 100m and 200m. The Virginia Challenge will be held at Lannigan Field on the University of Virginia Challenge.
Each day of the Virginia Challenge will be broadcast live on ACC Network Extra beginning at 7 p.m. Fans can watch Friday’s broadcast by clicking HEREand Saturday’s events by clicking HERE. They can also follow the meet via live results by clicking HERE.
Miami will compete in four events on Friday, beginning with Debbie Ajagbe, Zakiya Rashid and Sherry Lubin in the women’s discus at 1 p.m. Carolyn Brown will open up in the women’s 100m at 1:30 p.m., while Kevin Arreaga is set to compete in the men’s hammer invitational at 7 p.m. and Gian Piero Ragonesi in the men’s shot put invitational at 7:10 p.m.
Saturday’s action begins with Lubin throwing shot put at 1:30 p.m., while Brown returns to the track to run the women’s 200m at 3 p.m. Ajagbe and Rashid are among the nine competitors scheduled to compete in the women’s hammer invitational at 7 p.m., while Ajagbe is also in the women’s shot put invitational field.
Ragonesi will compete in the men’s discus invitational at 8:15 p.m., while Sean Grossman, Nathan Kuck and Adam George will close out the Hurricanes in action when they run the men’s 10,000m at 9:28 p.m.
Following this weekend’s action, the Hurricanes will head to Fayetteville, Ark., to compete at the National Relay Championships on April 27-28. To view the complete Miami Track and Field schedule for the 2018 season, click here.
