Rowing Ready For Sunshine State Invite

SARASOTA, Fla. — The University of Miami rowing team is back in Sarasota, Fla., to compete at the Sunshine State Invite.
 
The Hurricanes will compete at the two-day regatta held at the site of the 2018 NCAA Rowing Championships. The field for the event includes Jacksonville University, Clemson, Southern Methodist University, University of Central Florida, Stetson and North Carolina.
 
“The team has showed some great resiliency and overall depth this week,” Miami head coach Dave Sanderson said. “We have been improving our boat speeds throughout the week in practice. I can’t wait to see the team respond this weekend with even more resiliency, toughness and speed.”
 
Miami has four boats ready to race this weekend, and the Second Varsity 4 will kick off the competition at 3:20 p.m., followed by the First Varsity 4 at 3:50 p.m. Miami’s Second Varsity 8 is set to race at 4:50 p.m. and the First Varsity 8 will hit the starting line at 5 p.m.
 
Saturday’s competition is set to begin at 8 a.m. and will run in reverse order from Friday’s schedule. The First Varsity 8 will open at racing at 8 a.m. followed by the Second Varsity 8 at 8:36 a.m. Miami’s First Varsity 4 hits the starting line at 9:48 a.m. and the Second Varsity 4 wraps up the competition with a race set to begin at 10:12 a.m.
 
Following this weekend’s racing, the Hurricanes will head to New Jersey to compete at the Knecht Cup on April 14-15. For a complete look at Miami’s schedule, click here.
