Atherley Ready for NCAA Indoor Championships
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami’s Michelle Atherley will compete in the women’s pentathlon Friday at the 2018 NCAA Division I Men’s and Women’s Indoor Track and Field Championships.
Atherley is one of 16 competitors set to compete in the women’s pentathlon, beginning with the 60m hurdles at 1:15 p.m. ET. Atherley will then compete in the high jump, shot put and long jump before concluding the pentathlon with the 800m at 6:30 p.m. ET.
The junior enters the meet with the 10th-best pentathlon score this season, set at the 2018 ACC Indoor Championships. Atherley’s score of 4,159 points earned her a silver medal at the conference meet and cemented her spot in the field at the NCAA Championships.
A year ago, Atherley was the ACC women’s pentathlon champion and finished fourth in the women’s pentathlon at the NCAA Indoor Championships with a school record and personal-best score of 4,310 points.
The championships will be held Friday and Saturday in College Station, Texas, and will be hosted by Texas A&M at the Gilliam Indoor Track Stadium.
