Layland Named ACC Co-Diver of the Week

CORAL GABLES, Fla. — Senior diver Wally Layland was recognized for her standout performance at the SMU Classic with ACC Co-Diver of the Week honors, the conference office announced Tuesday.

An Orlando native, Layland dominated the competition in a loaded field and took home “high point diver” honors with her performance on the boards from Fri., Oct. 13 – Sat., Oct. 14..

Layland delivered Miami’s top individual finish on the first day of competition at the Westside Aquatic Center, finishing in second in the 1-meter springboard with a score of 259.15.

She set the bar even higher Saturday, taking the top finish in the 3-meter with a score of 294.00 to cruise to a first-place showing. Of a possible 32 diving points over two days, Layland scored 29 for the Hurricanes.
