@CanesRowing Set for Governor’s Cup
FELLSMERE, Fla. — The University of Miami rowing team is set to race in the state of Florida for this first time this spring, competing at the Governor’s Cup.
The Hurricanes will have six boats in action on Saturday at Canal 54, facing off against Columbia, Florida Tech and Barry University.
“I can’t wait for the team to go race again,” Miami head coach Dave Sanderson said. “We had an awesome spring break training and can’t wait to test our speed again.”
Miami’s first boat in the water will be the varsity 8, facing off against Columbia in a head-to-head race at 9:15 a.m. The Canes’ 2V8+ and 3V8+ ‘A’ will compete against Columbia in the 2V8+ race at 9:30 a.m. The Hurricanes’ 1V4+ will race against Columbia at 10 a.m., while two Canes boats will face off against Columbia in the 2V4+ event at 10:15.
The Hurricanes will return to action for a second section of racing, beginning at 11 a.m., with the varsity 8 and 2V8+ facing off against Florida Tech. The Canes’ 3V8+ ‘B’ will also race against Florida Tech at 11:30 a.m., in a head-to-head race to conclude the day’s action.
Following this weekend’s action at the Governor’s Cup, the Canes will head to Sarasota, Fla., for the Sunshine State Invite on March 31 and April 1. For a complete look at Miami’s schedule, click here.
