@HurricanesGolf Leads Fossum Invitational
EAST LANSING, Mich. – University of Miami women’s golfer Delfina Acosta opened her senior season on a high note Saturday as she carded a day one total of 141 and is tied for first at the 2016 Fossum Invitational.
This year’s event is being held at Michigan State’s Forest Akers West Golf Course.
Teammates Filippa Moork, Dewi Weber and Renate Grimstad also ranked among the top 10 individuals to help the Hurricanes to a commanding day one tournament lead.
After two rounds, Miami owns a team score of 569 and leads second place Princeton by 30 strokes. The Hurricanes enter the final round as the only team in the tournament under par.
Acosta, tallied six birdies on the day. Acosta closed the day strong as she birdied three of the final five holes. She posted a round one score of 70 and a second round total of 71.
Moork was impressive in her collegiate debut as she posted back-to-back rounds of 71 (142) and is tied for third, heading into the final round. The Sunne, Sweden native posted six birdies and one double eagle.
Weber is also tied for third after she carded rounds of 72 and 70 (142) . The Miami sophomore tallied five birdies; three of which came in the second round.
Rounding out the Hurricanes’ scoring was freshman Renate Grimstad as she recorded rounds of 73 and 71 (144). She currently stands alone in sixth place.
Senior Daniela Darquea is tied for 14th after she posted rounds of 78 and 71 (149).
Final round action begins tomorrow morning at 9 a.m. Competing teams will play 18 holes to close out the tournament. Live scoring for the tournament will be available at BirdieFire.com.
