Darquea and Weber Earn Golfweek All-America Honors

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – University of Miami junior Daniela Darquea and freshman Dewi Weber added to their growing list of postseason accolades as they were selected to the 2016 Golfweek All-America Team.

Darquea was named to Golfweek’s All-America Third Team, while Weber earned honorable mention recognition.

This is the second All-American honor for both Darquea and Weber, as both were selected WGCA Honorable Mention All-Americans earlier this year.

Darquea, a Quito, Ecuador native, earned the All-America recognition following a 2015-16 campaign that saw her earn a spot on the All-ACC team for the third consecutive season.

Darquea tallied seven top-10 finishes this past year, posting top-10 performances at the ACC and NCAA Regional Championships. She finished the season second on the Hurricanes with a 72.2 strokes-per-round average.

Weber enjoyed a breakout rookie campaign for the Hurricanes after posting a top-three finish at the NCAA Regional (third) and the NCAA Championship (tied for second).

The Netherlands native closed out the year by recording five top-10 finishes and posted an ACC-best scoring average of 70.6.

Both student-athletes have also excelled away from the course, as they were each named to the 2016 All-ACC Academic Team. Darquea highlighted the all-academic team with her selection as ACC Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
