Darquea Opens Play at #USWomensOpen

LANCASTER, Pa. – Sophomore University of Miami women’s golfer Daniela Darquea opened play at the 2015 United States Women’s Open Thursday morning at the par 70 Lancaster Country Club.

Darquea carded an opening round 78 and ranks 20th among the 25 amateurs competing in the field and is tied for 136th overall.

The Quito, Ecuador native began her round by tallying bogeys on the first two holes. Darquea responded as she pared the third hole. She then logged a birdie on hole four before reeling off pars on four of the next five holes to finish the front nine with a two-over-par score of 37.

Darquea closed round one action by shooting even par on five of the final nine holes, but suffered two bogeys and two double bogeys to close out the back nine with a 41.
