Golf in 13th Place at Longhorn Invitational

Austin, Texas – The University of Miami women’s golf team is in 13th place at the Betsy Rawls Longhorn Invitational after a first-round score of 307 (19-over).

Junior Kailey Walsh (Boca Raton, Fla.) led the Canes with a score of 74. Walsh had an impressive front nine, converting two birdies and completing her back nine with five-consecutive pars and is currently tied for 23rd. 

Sophomores Daniela Darquea (Quito, Ecuador) and Delfina Acosta (Nicanor Otamendi, Argentina) finished their opening rounds with identical scores of five-over 77, putting them in a tie at 49th. Acosta was par or better for seven-consecutive holes, including a birdie at 11.

Senior Leticia Ras-Anderica (Moraira, Spain) ended round one at seven-over 79, highlighted by a birdie on 18. Junior Christina Ocampo (Delray Beach, Fla.) had an eagle on 12 and is tied for 72nd (11-over 83).

The Hurricanes finished the day with five combined birdies.

Round two will tee off this tomorrow morning. The Hurricanes will be paired with New Mexico and UC Irvine.
