@CanesRowing Opens at ACC Rowing Championship

CLEMSON, S.C. — Inclement weather delayed the start, but the University of Miami rowing team opened its two-day stay at the 2014 ACC Rowing Championship.

Originally slated to begin at 6 p.m., the first race of the opening session of the 2014 ACC Rowing Championship began ninety minutes later at 7:30 p.m.

“It was a good effort from all UM crews,” Miami head coach Dave Sanderson said. “The 2V and 1V secured spots in the Grand Final and will look to build from today’s row.”

Miami’s V4+ hit the water at 7:40 p.m., and finished their race against Notre Dame, Syracuse and Boston College in 8:20.7.

The Hurricanes’ 2V8+ finished its first race of the 2014 ACC Rowing Championships in 7:02.8, taking third behind Notre Dame and Syracuse.

Miami’s 1V8+ was the final Canes boat in the water Friday. The top varsity boat competed the 2000m course on Lake Hartwell in 7:02.8, placing third behind Notre Dame and Syracuse.

The 1V8+ and 2V8+ each earned a spot in their respective Grand Final, while the V4+ will race in the Petite Final on Saturday morning.
