Sanderson Announces Miami Rowing Schedule

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – University of Miami head rowing coach Dave Sanderson has announced the 2013-14 rowing schedule.

The Hurricanes will compete in seven regattas this season, including hosting the UConn Huskies on March 22, 2014 at the Ronald W. Shane Watersports Center.

“I’m excited about our racing schedule,” Sanderson said. “It is a challenging schedule with many opportunities to race against some strong opponents.”

Miami will race in its only regatta of the Fall season in early November, traveling to Chattanooga, Tenn., to compete at Head of the Hooch.

The Canes will kick off their spring season on March 8 with a scrimmage against Michigan in Tampa, Fla.

Following their home regatta against UConn, the Hurricanes will travel to California to compete in the prestigious San Diego Crew Classic. Miami’s 1V8+ won the Cal Cup at the 2013 San Diego Crew Classic and will compete for the Jessop-Whittier Cup in 2014. Miami’s 2V8+ will look to bring home the Jackie Ann Stitt Hungness Trophy.

The Hurricane will also race at the Tiger Invitational (April 19-20) in Clemson, S.C. and in Orlando, Fla., against UCF, Tulsa and Old Dominion (April 27). Both regattas will help Miami’s final preparations before the ACC Championships on May 17.
