#MusicMonday: Hip-Hop Hype Music
By David Villavicencio
HurricaneSports.com
Want a chance to submit songs for our 2013 football and basketball playlists? Every Monday, we will post a different playlist on Spotify, giving fans the opportunity to share with friends or add their own songs to the list.
Throughout the summer, different Miami student-athletes will submit some of their favorite songs to listen to before a game. There will also be fan submissions as we compile the ultimate Canes football playlist.
In the inaugural edition of #MusicMonday, we decided to list some of our favorite pre-game songs. Last week, we looked at some of the greatest stadium anthems in sports. This week, HurricaneSports.com is focusing on some of the best hip-hop tracks heard at stadiums and arenas throughout the country.
Have a song that you think we should include in our playlist? Tweet your suggestions to @HurricaneSports and use #MusicMonday. We’ll update our lists throughout the week.
“Started From The Bottom” by Drake
This popular track became the de facto theme song for the Miami men’s basketball team during their run to the Sweet 16 this past season. Its connection to Canes athletics automatically earns it a spot on this list.
“Lose Yourself” by Eminem
Over a decade old and “Lose Yourself” still has the same impact as when you first heard it. With a catchy guitar and inspiring lyrics, fans and players can’t help but get pumped up when they hear this Eminem track.
“All I Do Is Win” by DJ Khaled featuring Ludacris, Rick Ross, T-Pain & Snoop Dogg
One of the ultimate stadium hip hop tracks, “All I Do Is Win” being on this list is self-explanatory. Any song that tells the world how good your team is has to be included. It doesn’t hurt that it has a pair of artists with Miami ties in DJ Khaled and Rick Ross, and Snoop’s reference to “The U” is an added bonus.
“Take It To Da House” by Trick Daddy
We had to get the “Mayor of Miami” on our list of stadium hip hop tracks. “Take It To the House” is just one of many Trick Daddy songs that would fit on our list. We went with this one because it reminds us of all the times the Canes have taken a football to the house for six points!
“Till I Collapse” by Eminem
Shady makes his second appearance on the list and it’s with another track that is sure to inspire both fans and student-athletes. “Till I Collapse” samples Queen’s legendary rock anthem “We Will Rock You” for its catchy beat. Add in Eminem’s lyrics and everyone is sure to get hyped in a hurry.
