Williams Finishes Career at NCAA Championship

EUGENE, Ore. – Samantha Williams competed in the women’s triple jump Friday, representing the University of Miami track and field program at the NCAA Division I Championships.

The senior posted a mark of 12.69m (41’ 7.75”) to place ninth in her flight. Williams finished 20th overall in the group of 24 competitors.

An All-American after placing seventh in the triple jump a year ago with a mark of 13.34m, Williams did not replicate her 2012 performance. But the standout jumper finished off her stellar career competing among the nation’s best collegiate jumpers.

Williams is one of the most decorated jumpers in Miami history, earning outdoor All-American honors in 2012 and indoor All-American honors in 2013. She earned 20 Top 5 finishes in her career competing in both the triple jump and long jump.

Williams won the long jump at the 2012 Miami Hurricane Invitational to pick up her first career Division I win. She also won the long jump at the 2012 Hurricane Invitational and picked up triple jump victories at the 2013 Auburn Invitational, the 2013 VT Final Qualifier and the 2013 Hurricane Alumni Invitational.
