Dear Hurricane Club Member,
This is a very exciting time for the University of Miami Athletic Department. On top of an exciting Orange Bowl victory over Florida State, our nationally ranked women’s basketball team is off to its best start in school history. Furthermore, the Hurricanes baseball team is ranked among the preseason Top 5 in all three major polls and our men’s basketball program was recently ranked 1st in the Big East (and ACC) with a 78% 4-class average graduation rate in 2003. The University of Miami is experiencing unprecedented success both in the classroom and on the playing fields due to your support.
Your support over the years has not gone unnoticed by the Athletic Department. This year, we are proud to introduce a new system that will not only reward you for the financial contributions you make, but will also reward you for your loyalty and longevity in supporting Hurricane Athletics. The new Priority Point System has been designed to complement the Hurricane Club membership levels that in turn govern seating location for home and away football games, season ticket upgrades, parking permit allocation, and all post season ticket allocation. This new system will recognize you individually for your specific contributions to UM Athletics.
On the back of this letter, you will find a breakdown of the criteria for which Hurricane Athletics will now award priority points. Furthermore, we have included a current 2004 breakdown of your new priority point total and your standing among all Hurricane Club members. Please note your Priority Point breakdown reflects your 2003 gift to the Hurricane Club.
The current database we utilize for Hurricane Club and ticket information dates back to 1988. We recognize you may have been donating and/or buying season tickets prior to 1988. If you have information that predates our records, simply complete the enclosed “Information Request Form” and send it, along with a summary letter, back to the Hurricane Club. Your Priority Points will be adjusted appropriately.
We are very excited to have the new Priority Point System in place that will allow us to more effectively reward you for your loyalty and other efforts to make our program the best in the nation. It is imperative we continue to focus on the growth of this organization so we can continue to provide our student-athletes with scholarship opportunities and a first rate education. The University of Miami depends greatly on your support and commitment.
Should you have any questions about the Priority Point System or your account status, please refer to your specific call dates and contact our office at 305-284-6699. We appreciate all you do for UM Athletics and look forward to your continued support. Go Canes!
Sincerely,
J. Brian Cockerham
