Devon Hill Finishes in Ninth at NCAA Championships

DES MOINES, Iowa – Senior Devon Hill of the University of Miami narrowly missed the cut in the 110 meter hurdles on Thursday at the NCAA Track and Field Championships, recording a time of 13.58 in the first heat of the event. Hill, who finished in ninth place, was .03 seconds away from tying for the eighth spot to qualify for the finals.

It was the second appearance at the national meet for Hill, as he earned Second Team All-America accolades last season in the 110 meter hurdles. The senior also ran a 13.35 in the event to repeat as the winner at the ACC Championships earlier this season, setting an ACC, personal and UM record.

Sophomore Thandi Stewart will vie for All-America status on Friday at 6:45 p.m. EST in the 400 meter hurdles after posting a personal record of 56.62 on Wednesday evening.

Junior Samantha Williams will make her debut on day four of the Championships on Saturday in the triple jump for the Canes. Her competition is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. EST.

ESPN3 will stream all the action on Friday and Saturday.
