Burt, Miller Inducted Into Buffalo Sports Hall of Fame

BUFFALO — Former University of Miami student-athletes Jim Burt and Cindy Miller were recently inducted into the Greater Buffalo Sports Hall of Fame. Burt and Miller were a part of a 12-member class that was recognized at an induction ceremony at HSBC Arena on June 15.
Burt played football for the Hurricanes from 1978 to 1980 and still holds school records for single-season tackles by an interior defensive lineman (100) and single-game fumble recoveries (4). Burt served as a co-captain his senior season and was voted MVP of the 1981 Peach Bowl. He went on to play 11 seasons in the National Football League, winning Super Bowls titles with the New York Giants (Super Bowl XXI) and the San Francisco 49ers (XXIV).
Miller was member of two national championship golf teams at Miami in 1977 and 1978. A walk-on turned team captain, Miller graduated from UM with a degree in Education and later went on to play on the PGA Tour for 15 seasons. She is currently a member of the LPGA Legends Tour and is 27th on its career money list.
Burt and Miller were joined in the 2011 GBSHOF class by Ruben Brown (football), Jim Lorentz (hockey), Curtis Aiken (basketball), Don Colpoys (amateur baseball), Phil Mankowski (baseball), Steve Mesler (olympian), Cookie Gilchrist (football), William Morgan (volleyball), Michael Broderick (rowing) and Lewis “Deerfoot” Bennett (running).
The Greater Buffalo Sports Hall of Fame honors those who have enhanced our lives with their performances and commitment to Western New York sports, an effort surpassed only by the positive impressions they have left on our athletes of tomorrow.
