Ti'erra Brown Claims Gold at NACAC Championships in 100m Hurdles

MIRAMAR, Fla. – The University of Miami’s Ti’erra Brown won the 100m hurdles title at the North American, Central American, and Caribbean Athletic Association (NACAC) U-23 Championships, Friday night at the Ansin Sports Complex .
Brown’s time of 12.86 seconds was the only one under 13 seconds in the championship heat. The Hampton, Va. native was joined by fellow American Michaylin Golladay (13.07) and Jamaica’s Rosemary Carty (13.22) on the podium.
It is the first NACAC Championships by a Miami student-athlete in program history.
On Sunday, Brown and teammate Tameka Jameson will both represent the United States in the 400m hurdles final. The duo will compete Sunday at 5 p.m.
Brown a five-time All-America honoree, is the third ranked American in the 400m hurdles this year with a season-best time of 54.74 seconds and she won the USA Championship in the event in late June. Jameson is tied for seventh at 55.73 seconds. Each woman’s top-time came at the NCAA Preliminary Round held in Greensboro, N.C. in May.
In the 400m hurdle NCAA final Brown was the runner-up for the second straight year at 55.22 seconds and Jameson placed third at 56.37 seconds.
The championships feature 26 nations and 462 athletes and can be viewed live online at usportstv.net as a pay-per-view service. Tickets for the event can be purchased miramarculturalcenter.org for $10 a day or $25 for all three days.
